COVID-19: PPP Punjab Parliamentary Leader Hassan Murtaza demands tax relief for poor, PPE kits for doctors

Lahore: Pakistan Peoples Party Punjab parliamentary leader Syed Hassan Murtaza has demanded that the government should provide immediate relief to the people amid COVID-19 by waive off electricity and other utility bills.

In a statement issued here on Friday, the PPP leader demanded the government should reduce the taxes, bring interest rates on single-digits and give relief to the public and the business community; Government must also ensure to implement measures to reduce rents for tenants, he urged.

The PPP leader has urged that PPE kits and other protective equipment should be provided to doctors, nurses and paramedics immediately so that not only Corona can be defeated, but also the protection of our frontline guards will be ensured.

Hassan Murtaza maintained that all opposition parties, including the PPP, have rejected PTI’s Tiger Force; human society needs humans and human values, not ‘tigers’ for the betterment of the society, adding Tsunami, and PTI’s Tigers have caused catastrophic and destruction in Pakistan.

Hassan Murtaza further demanded that the government increase the poverty score of Benazir Income Support Program by 25 points so that another five million people could be benefited, government should not exclude passport holders, motorcycle owners and other beneficiaries  in BISP, so they could also be benefited from support funds, 80 % of people make passports for Hajj, Umrah and pilgrims through their lifetime deposits, they get passports to perform religious obligations , it is totally unjust to deny benefit from the relief program.

The government should increase the testing facilities at the division and district level and ensure the supply of PPE kits, he demanded.
